Annie Hasz

Annie Hasz has always been passionate about the green world and has lived this love as a vegetable farmer since she was a teenager. For her, just as essential as tending food crops is slipping off into the woods and making salads and medicines from weedy plants. In 2010 she took a life-changing Homestead Herbalism course with Susan Hess. The day she learned about comfrey, she had badly sprained her ankle on a friend’s farm, giving her the perfect opportunity to make a comfrey poultice and practice what she’d been learning. It worked, and added to the many powerful experiences she had in the presence of plants. In 2012 she moved to Virginia to study with Kat Maier at Sacred Plant Traditions’ Clinical Herbalism program. She started Broad Wing Farm in 2014, growing nutrient-dense food with organic practices for her community. Welcoming people into her garden to meet and taste plants nourishes her on a deep level. She helped to organize the Mid-Atlantic Women’s Herbal Conference when it was beginning and she’s now thrilled to be teaching classes about plants and herbalism at her farm.
